The client's requirement for this particular project was to transform an empty four storey concrete box into a modern and comfortable serviced apartment style accommodation, with a total of 61 high quality rooms and associated reception, office and entry/ waiting facilities.
Conversion of this bare concrete shell involved significant seismic upgrade of the existing structure to bring it up to current code requirements, as well as allowing for the larger window openings created. Whilst Tracer Construction was granted vacant possession of the site for the nine month duration of the contract, constraints were placed on construction activities to protect the amenity of neighbouring hotel guests and apartments.
This necessitated the careful planning of both noise and vehicle movements at all hours of the day and night, and lent the project a little extra challenge over and above the complex nature of the building upgrade itself.
The final delivery of this project on both time and budget is testament to the ability of Tracer Construction to deliver results in even the most demanding circumstances. The completion of this project saw Quest Hotels taking delivery of a very attractive and well appointed stand alone apartment accommodation complex that perfectly compliments Quest Hotels other Wellington accommodation options.
